STU basketball players named to Sun Conference top honors teams

St. Thomas University men’s basketball players Justin Brown and Philip Saunders were named to the Sun Conference First Team and Second Team, respectively, for their accomplishments on the basketball court this season. Brown, received First-Team honors and was the Bobcats offensive leader for the season, as the junior averaged 17 points-per-game, while shooting 47 percent from the field in 21 games. Brown scored a season-high 32-points and made a Sun Conference-high 18-free throws, in the STU win over Keiser University in December. Saunders, named to the Second-Team, was a sharpshooter beyond the arc for the Bobcats. Saunders established a career-high in points (25) and three-point makes (7) in the St. Thomas win in the "Battle of Miami Gardens.” Saunders ranks 30th in the NAIA in steals-per-game, as the senior averaged, 1.769. St. Thomas finished the season with a defeat in the Sun Conference Quarterfinals against Ave Maria.
