STU volleyball team places four on All Sun Conference teams

Four women’s volleyball team members from St. Thomas University were named to the 2018 All-Sun Conference teams, three of whom were named as first-team members.
Conference officials announced the teams during the Sun Conference banquet which honored players for their stellar performances this season.
St. Thomas was one of four Sun Conference programs (Webber International, Southeastern and Coastal Georgia) to place three members on the first-team. Krista Kolbinskie, Arianna Bolinger, Nathaly Alvarez and Courtney White all took home hardware for their performances for the season. Kolbinskie, Bolnger and Alvarez were all named to the First-Team All-Sun Conference, while White was named to the Sun Conference Second-Team for the second time in her STU career.
Bolinger was also named as the Sun Conference Freshman of the Year, following a dynamic freshman campaign. The freshman finished second on the Bobcats in kills (244), third in digs (204) and second in service aces (30).
Kolbinskie led STU in several categories in her lone season as a Bobcat, leading the team in kills (277), digs (324) and service aces (38). Kolbinskie ranked fourth in the Sun Conference in hitting percentage (0.236), second in kills-per-set (3.5), ninth in kills, seventh in service aces and tenth in digs.
Alvarez led St. Thomas in assists (537), while finishing third in kills (147) and second in digs (230). Alvarez finished fifth in the Sun Conference in assists and fifth in assists-per-set (5.9)
White finished leading the Bobcats defense with 83-blocks (14-solo, 69-assisted). White's 83-blocks placed her third in the Sun Conference.
Carli Batsel and Dayma Play were also honored as members of the Sun Conference All-Academic team for excellence in the classroom.
