Miami Lakes recreation programs for youngsters and adults resume schedules later this month and in early September.
Adult programs will be starting on Monday, August 27, for Painting Level 1, 2 and 3, Line Dancing, Spanish, and Yoga. Registration started on August 13. Interested participants may visit www.miamilakes-fl.go/parkres to view class openings.
Senior programs will be starting on Monday, August 27 for Tai Chi, Sewing, Computers in English and Spanish, and Knitting and Crocheting. Participants may register for the first day of class.
Some Youth programs will be starting on August 20 and then on September 4. They include:
YMCA After School Care – Monday to Friday, 2 to 6 p.m. Ages K-5 will be at the Roberto Alonso Community Center. Grades 6-8 will be at Miami Lakes Optimist Club House. The new rate is $!00 per month per child.
The following free Youth programs start on September 4 at the Mary Collins Community Center:
Ballet 1 (ages 5-7), Mondays, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.
Ballet 2 (ages 7-9), Mondays, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Ballet 3 (ages 9-11), Wednesdays, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.
Ballet 4 (ages 11-16), Wednesdays, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Jazz Dance 1 (ages 5-7), Tuesdays, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.
Jazz Dance 2 (ages 7-9), Tuesdays, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Jazz Dance 3 (ages 9-11), Thursdays, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.
Jazz Dance 4 (ages 11-16), Thursdays, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Martial Arts Tots (ages 6-8), Mondays & Wednesdays, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.
Martial Arts Beginners (ages 7-9), Mondays & Wednesdays, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Martial Arts Intermediate (ages 8-10), Tuesdays & Thursdays, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.
Martial Arts Advanced (ages 11-16), Tuesdays & Thursdays, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
Just Run (ages 5-12), Tuesdays & Thursdays, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., until December 20.
The following two programs will be held at Miami Lakes Youth Center (The Spot):
Canta y Baila Conmigo and Music Together, ages birth to 5, 10:30 and 11:30 a.m., from September 4 to November 6;
Music Together, ages birth to 5, 10:30 and 11:30 a.m., from September 5 to November 7.
Tuition is $225 for first child, $185 Sibling Fee, infants younger than 8 months may attend free with a paid registered sibling.
