Following a seven-year playoff drought, Monsignor Edward Pace High School’s football team looked good in the regional quarterfinal and semifinal games.
Then, the Spartans were seeking revenge against University School which beat Pace earlier in the regular season.
But Pace let their fans down again, as the Sharks defeated the Spartan’s 42-39 in the Regional 4-4A final game.
Top national recruit running back Kenny McIntosh embarrassed Pace’s defense, as he ran for 243 yards on 25 carries and scored five touchdowns.
Pace scored 22 unanswered points in the fourth quarter but University scored 13 points to seal the victory and advanced to the Class 4A state semifinal to face defending state champion Cocoa.
