Want to be a part of Super Bowl LIV, and score some logo gear, too?
As South Florida prepares to host a record-breaking 11th annual NFL championship game on Feb. 2 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, the Super Bowl Host Committee is looking for 10,000 volunteers to host thousands of visitors who will come to town to experience eight days of football fever.
Volunteers will act as ambassadors for the approximately 800,000 visitors during Jan. 25 - Feb. 2 at venues in downtown Miami; the Miami Beach Convention Center; South Florida airports; hotels; transportation hubs and fan events.
But don’t dawdle: the application deadline is Tuesday, Oct. 1.
Volunteers will assist the committee at events including the Super Bowl Experience to be held at the Miami Beach Convention Center and Super Bowl LIVE fan village at Bayfront Park in Miami, said Elle Kehoe, vice president of volunteers for the Miami Super Bowl Host Committee.
During Super Bowl Experience, football fans can take part in drills, pass and kick the football, and hoist the Vince Lombardi Trophy, which is awarded to the winning team.
Super Bowl LIVE will feature concerts, family entertainment and food trucks.
“It’s everything [done] with a Miami flair,” Kehoe said.
At Miami International and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International airports, volunteers will greet visitors, help them with baggage claims and get to the South Florida Regional Transportation Authority’s Tri-Rail system.
They will also help visitors connect to ride sharing services or taxis for rides to their hotels, Super Bowl events and parties.
Volunteers will not receive tickets to the Super Bowl, and they will not be needed to work inside the stadium on Super Bowl Sunday.
Kehoe said ambassadors must be at least 18 years old and should be energetic and enthusiastic and demonstrate knowledge of the South Florida area.
Volunteers are also required to be customer service-oriented, willing to be flexible and helpful and must work a minimum of three shifts that are four-to-six hours long.
For those who are chosen, there is mandatory orientation and training specific to their roles.
The uniform kit includes a Super Bowl jacket, polo shirt, backpack, hat and water bottle as well as other special giveaways, Kehoe said.
The volunteers will help South Florida showcase its rich, diverse culture and beautiful landscape on a global stage during Super Bowl week.
“We will show the world just how incredible it is to live, work, and of course, play here,” Kehoe said.
