On Friday, February 28, Bob Graham Education Center’s (BGEC) Mock Trial Team took first place in the Miami-Dade Public School District’s Middle School Mock Trial Competition at St. Thomas University. The students are part of the school’s Civic Engagement Academy’s law studies class.The students were divided into two teams.
One fulfilled their duties as the plaintiff team during a simulated trial, and the other as the defense in a second trial. The teams received the majority points in both rounds leading them to first place in Miami-Dade County Public Schools.
Plaintiff team members included Dylan Perez, Kaylen Grass, Lawrence Williams, Ana Alea, Vivien Martin, and Ryan Delgado. Defense team members included Huzaifa Bin-Rahmin, Chang Lee, Gabriel Nodal, Angela Gomez, Brandon Iglesias, and Matthew Beyra. Both teams were led by social studies teacher Ingy Cruz.
