Miami Lakes canine residents have been seen high-pawing their humans with the announcement of the official name for the new Dog Recreational Area – K-9 Cove. The name was chosen from over 50 submissions.

Miami lakes off-leash dog recreation area will be located at 14048 Palmetto Frontage Road (N.W. 77 Court), and is scheduled to open in early  2017.

Winner of the K-9 Cove submission will receive a commemorative plaque and be recognized at the Dog Park grand opening ceremony at a later date.

K-9 Cove will featured both a passive recreational area and two separate fenced areas for smaller and larger dogs. The area will include benches, drinking fountains for the dogs, and a joint open air shelter for use by pet owners. The site will also incorporate a portion of the proposed 10-foot wide bike trail along the south side of Palmetto Frontage Road. Future improvements will include a parking lot.
