This past holiday season, the women from the Miami Lakes based business, Mujeres De Impacto Ministry (Women of Impact), led the 2013 Adopt a Grandparent and Adopt a Woman in Distress Holiday Program.
The Mujeres De Impacto Ministry initiative is dedicated to impacting the lives of disadvantaged women due to social or economic hardship. The events planned enable women to enhance and develop their quality of life and opportunities for spiritual, educational and economic transformation.
The holiday program partnered with local businesses and with every $15 to $25 dollars donated, a personalized and wrapped gift would be given to a grandparent and woman in distress. The organization had a big turn out and with the funds raised, each grandparent in the Golden Age Assisted Living Facility, Mi Retiro LLC, and Golden Age Assisted Living Facility IV LLC, received gifts. Gifts were also given to women in the Women in Distress Organization.
The Mujeres De Impacto also teamed up with Toys for Tots to ensure the children of mothers in shelters would not be forgotten.
Many of the businesses who donated to the program are located in Miami Lakes. Among the businesses were The Fade Shop, Snow’s Jewelry, Victoria's Secret, Costco, Future Force, Dazzles Beauty Supply, Sehan Spa, Holiday Bakery, Prime America, Mary Kay Cosmetics, Tu Imagen TV, Mega Festivals Corporation and individuals from Wells Fargo, McDonalds, FedEx, Gus Machado Ford, and Moro Castle. Individuals and families in the community also donated for the cause.
"We wanted to make sure grandparents and women in distress know they were not forgotten for the holiday season," said Mujeres De Impacto Ministry founder, Amy Britto.
