Roberto Pons, 61, is an Enrolled Agent, a credential he has held since 2004.
That’s the same year he opened Pons & Associates, Inc., an accounting firm at 6625 Miami Lakes Drive in Miami Lakes.
As an Enrolled Agent with the U.S. Department of the Treasury, Pons is federally authorized to represent taxpayers who are undergoing audits by the government.
In addition to helping taxpayers who have problems with the Internal Revenue Service, Pons & Associates keeps the books for businesses, does their taxes and guides them through audits, collections and more.
“The majority of our clients are businesses, but we do see people for taxes and other accounting needs,” said Pons.
Pons said he enjoys helping others.
“It helps me when I can help others, especially those that need to comply with the IRS,” he said.
“Tax laws are complicated, many people don’t understand them and that’s what we are here to do, to help them,” he said.
Pons has advertised in The Miami Laker for 16 years.
“In Miami Lakes, people read The Miami Laker, there’s no doubt about that,” Pons said. “The exposure to the community is important.”
