Lakes Family Eye Care marks first anniversary

Lakes Family Eye Care (LFEC) located at 14750 N.W. 77 Court, suite 110, recently celebrated its one year anniversary in March. The facility is led by Dr. Maria Briceno Martin who has been an optometrist for over 12 years and has served The Town of Miami Lakes for 11 years.
Briceno Martin grew up in Miami Lakes, she studied at Florida International University where she received her Bachelor’s degree in 2003. She then moved when she was studying at the prestigious New England College of Optometry in Boston. She graduated in 2007 and moved back to Miami Lakes.
Briceno Martin worked at a large optometry office for about a year then went to work at Miami Lakes Eye Care Center for 10 years. It was always her dream to open her own private practice. One night during dinner her husband asked her if she still wanted to pursue that dream and that is when LFEC was born. Briceno Martin knew she wanted to stay in Miami Lakes because she loves this town, this is home. “I wanted to give back to this community,” she said.
Many of her patients followed her on this new journey and loved the new place, everything was designed brand new and has a very family-home style environment. Briceno Martin wanted to make sure everyone that walked in felt comfortable and at home. She understands that some people get nervous when going to a doctor’s office so her goal was to incorporate a family feel as much as possible.
LFEC is not like most optometry offices. Aside from eye exams and treating major eye emergencies they also have their own lab to create the lenses for eye glasses. Having this machine in-house makes the process of a patient receiving their eye glasses much quicker and easier adding a personal touch.
LFEC was created for the convenience of families. They treat all ages from small children to elders. They take almost all major insurances. LFEC is open Mondays Wednesdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and conveniently open on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to noon.
