Plasma clinical trials begin at University of Miami

Participants in two COVID-19 treatment and prevention studies by Johns Hopkins University, in collaboration with the University of Miami Health System, may be eligible for up to $200 in compensation.

    People recently exposed to the coronavirus or those diagnosed with it may be eligible.

     Clinical trials will assess whether convalescent blood plasma is effective as an outpatient treatment.

     Organizers hope to enroll essential workers, health care workers, home aides, elder persons and parents/caregivers of children who may be diagnosed with the disease, according to a press release.

     Participants must be at least 18, tested within five days, have received a positive diagnosis, have ongoing symptoms for less than 8 days without hospitalization or have no symptoms but had contact within three days with someone who has the virus.
