The annual Children’s Theatre Workshop at the Main Street Playhouse located at 6766 Main Street is just around the corner. The Workshop for children 7 to 13 years of age provides a full theatre experience for three weeks from Monday, June 11 through 29.
Main Street Players has built a reputation as one of the finest summer workshops for children in South Florida offering an exciting program for a fun-filled session where they can pursue their passion in the performing arts as well as develop self-esteem and greater communication skills.
The Workshop is limited in size, offering personal training to all participants. Students experience concentrated studies in theatre that include warm-ups, audition techniques, theatre games, improvisation, costuming, puppetry, scenic design and other technical aspects of theatre.
The session provides hands-on experience, and gives young actors the opportunity to explore the many aspects of theatre. Imagination and creativity are encouraged through development and writing of original monologues and scenes. “Lion Kings for Kids” will be performed on the last friday of the workshop for family and friends.
The workshop will take place from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. daily. The Workshop fee is $625 and is open to ages 7 -13. Early morning and late afternoon pick-ups are available for an additional fee. The fee includes a camp T-shirt, group photo and a personal headshot.
For more information, or to register for the Workshop, visit the MSP website at mainstreetplayers.com or call the Workshop Coordinator, Dennis Lyzniak, at 786-395-7296. Space in the workshop is limited.
