Upon entering Selah Skin Studio in Miami Lakes, a sweet aroma coupled with soothing music immediately sets the stage for serenity. The center's owner, Cristina Zamorano, is celebrating the center’s second anniversary in October with events all throughout the month kicking off with a celebration on Saturday, October 3, with Bellini cocktails, raffles and more.

On Monday, October 5 the center will be holding thermography screenings for detection of breast cancer, and on Wednesday, October 14, a Celebrate Life event will be held for current clients that are cancer survivors.

Selah Skin Studio approaches skin care and wellness holistically with all natural ingredients, organic whenever possible, and starting from the inside out. Personalized consultations run the gamut from stress levels to nutrition.

Some of the services offered are detox body masks, custom tailored massages, detox infrared blanket wrap, diamond dermabrasion, facials, peels, and makeup workshops. Additionally a membership is available for customized skin and body care treatments with add-ons at a reduced rate.

Zamorano’s journey into skin care and wellness has a long brewing passion from childhood that didn’t quite take flight until one day, after working nearly 17 years in accounting and bookkeeping, she decided to pursue a more fulfilling project. What began as a side project led Zamorano to getting licensed as an esthetician and working with the Spa at Shula’s for five years before branching out and opening her own location.

“It just all started to unfold,” said Zamorano. “My advice for others is that if there’s something in your heart, don’t compromise. Work hard and be consistent to see success.”

Not compromising on passions and quality is a concept close to Zamorano’s heart. The products offered at her center are hand-picked and tested by herself and her staff before offered for sale. Much like her dedication to deriving the best for her clients, Zamorano and the Selah Skin Care team are passionate about great customer service and building relationships with their clients.

“We care about doing the right thing by our clients,” said Zamorano. “We have clients that we ask about their children or their grandparents, it’s that sort of relationship.”

Seeking not only to do well by her clients, Zamorano is also active in offering perks to local teachers and getting involved with charitable organizations. Selah Skin Studio is a drop off location for Shoes for Streets, a charity that take sneakers to the homeless in the Downtown Miami Area. She is currently collaborating with the Breanna Vergara Foundation and hopes to continue working with organizations doing good in the community.

To Zamorano, the opportunity to open Selah Skin Studio was a marriage of two passions, one of finding fulfillment in her work and pursuing the call on her life to help others.

“When charities come in and ask ‘can I’ I pretty much stop them right there and say yes,” said Zamorano. “Selah is a profitable business, of course, but we are very much about helping others. The heart of this company is most important to me.”

As for future ambitions, Zamorano is staying humble. She entertains the idea of expanding to a second location one day but for now, her efforts are on creating the greatest skin care center she can make. For the time being, the studio buzzes with traffic, mostly that of word-of-mouth, further cementing Selah Skin Studio as a go-to place in the Miami Lakes community.
