Miami Lakes Elderly Affairs Committee is hosting the 4th annual Family Health and Fitness Fair from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 10, in the Mary Collins Community Center, 15151 N.W. 82 Avenue, as a featured event during Super Saturday at the Park.
The fair is sponsored in part by Mount Sinai Medical Center, Florida Pace Centers, Chen Senior Medical Center, Specialty Smiles, and CarePlus Health Plans.
Last year’s event drew over 500 attendees with more than 60 local businesses participating to educate guests on preventive healthcare and sound health practices.
Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, in partnership with the local non-profit Breanna Vergara Foundation, will provide free EKG screenings for children.
Mount Sinai and Chen Senior Medical centers, along with FIU’s Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine’s Medical Students Working to Improve Society and Health, will provide free blood pressure, glucose, cholesterol, BMI and Stoke Prevention screenings.
FIU’s College of Medicine’s Mammography Art Initiative will provide information about breast cancer prevention and where to receive free mammogram screenings.
Miami-Dade County Area Health Education Center, a non-profit, will provide health education as well as free non-invasive colorectal cancer screening.
Other health activities during Super Saturday at the Park include a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. provided by OneBlood; Yoga in the Park from 9 to 10 a.m. in partnership with 305 Yoga; Boot Camp from 9 to 10 a.m. provided by Fit Like Me Miami; mini massages and facials from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. offered by Massage Envy; and an Exercise Rowing Demo, from 11 to 11:30 a.m. offered by Orangetheory Fitness of Miami Lakes.
And, of course, the very popular Farmer’s Market which will be open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., all providing an active, family-oriented Saturday at the Park.
