The annual “Festival of Lights” on Main Street, now in its 29th consecutive year, is a family tradition among residents of Miami Lakes, and spreading to surrounding cities in South Florida.
The event is scheduled along the two blocks of Downtown Miami Lakes on Saturday, November 30, starting at 6 p.m. The event is free and features three stages and entertainment through 10 p.m.
On the Center Stage, Radio Disney will be hosting starting at 6 p.m. with games, music and more. The Snow’s Stage will feature holiday live music starting at 7:30 p.m. with Miami Lakes musician Andres Lasaga, followed by Rhythm & Pitch’s jazz combo and big band.
The Main Stage, just west of Ludlam Road, will feature the lighting ceremony at 7 p.m. with snowfall, followed by performances by New Testament Baptist Church, Miami Lakes Middle School Warrior Band, and the Hahn Horn Quartet.
The Santa House will open after the lighting ceremony where children can meet Santa Claus, take home a photo souvenir, and shop at Santa’s shop, courtesy of Miami Lakes Boy Scout Troop 49. In addition, there will be a toy vendor, face painting, and lots of food choices among the Main Street restaurants.
Visit Main Street through mid-December to enjoy more live performances and meet Santa. The “Festival of Lights” is presented by the Main Street Merchants and The Graham Companies. For more information, visit www.mainstreetml.com, or connect on www.facebook.com/mainstreetML.
