BGEC students collect 300 books for kids

      Students at Bob Graham Education Center collected over 300 books from classmates, teachers and families for the Miami Lakes Book Drive that was organized by the Education Advisory Board. Area schools are collecting new and gently used books until April 25. Donations may be placed in a box in the lobby of Town Hall, at 6601 Main St. The EAB will give books away to children at town events.

Miami Lakes Mayor Josh Dieguez held the first Morning with Medics on Feb. 19 at Vanilla Espresso French Café.  The event welcomes residents to meet paramedics from Miami-Dade Fire Rescue to chat and learn more about the department and what its firefighters do, as well as the community outreach the department does around Miami-Dade County.  The concept is modeled on Coffee with a Cop events that are held in town.
