At the July 9 Town Council meeting, lawmakers awarded a contract to Acosta Tractors for the long awaited lane expansion of N.W. 154 Street between N.W. 84 and 87 avenues. The project consists of expanding the roadway from two lanes to four lanes, drainage improvements, roadway resurfacing, striping and installation of new lighting.

Presently, Acosta Tractors is the contractor working on construction to open N.W. 87 Avenue from N.W. 154 to 166 streets. By selecting Acosta, the town received the assurance of owner Felix Acosta that the 154 Street improvements would be completed simultaneously with the completion and opening of N.W. 87 Avenue. Acosta indicated both projects are expected to be completed by the end of 2013.

“Our greatest holiday gift to town residents will be the long awaited opening of N.W. 87 Avenue and having N.W. 154 Street expanded. This contract assures us that we will have both done by Christmas,” said Mayor Michael Pizzi.
