FBI honors Superintendent Carvalho

Miami-Dade Schools Superintendent Alberto M. Carvalho has been awarded the FBI Director’s 2014 Community Leadership Award in recognition of his work enhancing students’ academic enrichment. The announcement was made last December, and FBI director James Comey presented the award on May 4 in Washington, D.C.

 

Emily Caraballo, a resident of Miami Lakes and third grade student at Somerset Academy, won first place at the school’s Somerset’s Got Talent show. The talent show included all Somerset schools in South Florida. Caraballo choreographed and danced her own routine using the song “Uptown Funk” by Bruno Mars.
