Miami Lakes Educational Center principal James Parker was named runner-up for Principal of the Year at a Miami-Dade County Public Schools’ awards ceremony held in early April at Jungle Island.

Miami Lakes residents Clarisell and Luis Collazo announced the birth of their son, Lucas Luis Collazo. He arrived on Wednesday, January 21, at South Miami Hospital, weighing 6 pounds, 11 ounces, and measuring 19 3/4 inches in length. Maternal grandparents are Clara and Rafael (decease) De Cardenas. Paternal grandparents are Alina and Luis (deceased) Collazo.
