  Last year, Monsignor Edward Pace High School’s boys’ basketball team finished the season at 9-20 and missed the playoffs. This season, the Spartans are 11-6 and tied with Booker T. Open table tennis at Alonso Center

  Miami Lakes offers free open table tennis play at the Roberto Alonso Community Center, 16500 N.W. 87 Avenue, every Tuesday and Thursday from noon to 3:30 p.m. All levels and ages are welcome to participate and the town provides paddles and balls, although participants may bring their own paddles.   Miami Lakes Middle School teachers and students came together during the holidays to participate in a community outreach project that made over 80 holiday decorated shoe boxes to give to orphaned children. The shoe boxes contained items like a novel, candy, crossword search books, coloring books and colored pencils, and small toys like Rubiks Cubes or Slinky.
