Community Bike Ride on January 19

Miami Lakes Neighborhood Improvement Committee will host the first Community Bike Ride of the New Year on Saturday, January 19.
Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. for the 5.5-mile family-friendly loop with the ride starting at 9 a.m. from Miami Lakes Youth Center, 6075 Miami Lakes Drive East.

On December 15, Our Lady of the Lakes Girls’ Varsity Basketball Team completed a perfect season going 11-0. Team work, determination and hard work were key reasons for this team’s success. Mater Lakes Academy’s wrestling team took home first place to capture the John Lyzott Invitational at MacArthur High School. Danny Martinez, Nick Luna, Omar Armengol, David Alvarez, and Ethan Vergara all won individual titles, while Nestor Nunez claimed 2nd place, Nick Munoz finished 4th, and Jorge Rodriguez and Rafael Alvarez finished 5th. The event marks the biggest tournament win for the Bears wrestling team since inauguration.
