If you love the outdoors, you can “find your awesome” at 37° North, an outfitter on Main Street that sells active wear and also supplies Boy Scouts from Monroe, Miami-Dade and Broward counties. Scouts can select guides on how to earn merit badges and buy uniforms and gear for camping and other adventures. It’s the first store in the country that will cater to both scouts and regular folks. It is named after two national boy scout camps in New Mexico and West Virginia.
37° North is at 6832 Main St., in the heart of Miami Lakes. Shown at a Sept. 7 ribbon cutting are from left: Rob Gingerich, territory manager, National Boy Scout Supply; Jeffrey Berger, chief executive officer, South Florida Council, Boy Scouts of America; Daniel Barnes, National Boy Scout Supply; Alejandro Mendieta, president of the board, South Florida Council, Boy Scouts of America; Dan Barnes, regional manager, National Boy Scout Supply; Tracy Shaffer, store manager; David Leyte-Vidal, community liaison, office of Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava and Nicholas MacLeish, district executive, northern Broward County, South Florida Council, Boy Scouts of America.
