The Greater Miami Expressway Agency is giving away free mini SunPass transponders each month through the end of 2025.
The transponder will save drivers 50% on tolls versus paying by plate, the agency said.
If purchased, the device costs $4.99 plus tax.
GMX is calling the event “Transponder Tuesday” and invites motorists to pick up a free transponder at GMX headquarters, 3790 NW 21st St. in Miami from 9 a.m. - noon, on Sept. 2; Oct. 7; Nov. 4 and Dec. 2.
The device will work on all highways that use SunPass as well as on GMX expressways, including SR 836/Dolphin Expressway; SR 112/Airport Expressway; SR 874/Don Shula Expressway; SR 878/Snapper Creek Expressway and SR 924/Gratigny Parkway.
