Over 2,600 people came out to support the South Florida Autism Charter School at its 14th Annual Walk and Safety Fair on April 18.

The school, at 3751 W. 108th St. in Hialeah, offers education and therapeutic services to individuals with autism spectrum disorder.

Money raised from the annual walk funds its programs and initiatives.

Two hundred teams signed up for the walk held at its campus. The effort raised $175,000, school spokeswoman Sandra Camacho said.

“It was inspiring to see such strong community involvement and enthusiasm,” Camacho wrote in an email.

There were vendors and a performance by the Hialeah-Miami Lakes Senior High School marching band.

The Hialeah Police Department walked and brought their sports car that is wrapped with an awareness design, and the school’s Sundazzlers dance team performed.
