Pets of Miami Lakes

This distinguished gentleman is Winston, owned by Jesus and Evelyn Garcia.

The one-year-old miniature Schnauzer is described as high-energy, super loving and very affectionate.

“He’s the highlight of my life,” Jesus Garcia said.

It was his wife Evelyn who convinced Jesus to get Winston after the loss of Monty, their other miniature Schnauzer.

Winston has helped Jesus with the loss of Monty and now looks forward to coming home from work to see him.

“He is the funniest little dog,” Jesus said.

Winston, who is called Winnie by his owners, is also very smart and knows the commands for sit, stay, give paw, and leave it.

Winston is also polite when it comes to dinner and won’t touch his food until the command break is given.

Jesus says that Winston enjoys walks around Miami Lakes and wants to play with every dog he meets.

“He’s affectionate with other dogs,” Jesus said.

Winston will whine until he is able to say hello to other dogs. This extends to people too; if you’re visiting the Garcias, you must be “Winston approved”.

“He loves attention and he barks until you pet him,” Jesus said.

Visitors to the Garcia home need to pet Winston upon entry. Once visitors do, he will calm down and go about his day.

Winston is also a “Velcro dog” and must be touching some part of his humans, so much so that Jesus says that the pup will sleep behind his back.

“He wants to make sure he has your physical touch,” Jesus said.

When he isn’t trying to make friends around Miami Lakes, Winston loves car rides and the wind blowing through his beard.

Jesus describes Winston as their love of their lives.
