The Miami Lakes Town Foundation is accepting grant applications from groups that embrace its mission to support continuing education; literacy; youth; beautification projects and cultural events. Special consideration is given to applicants whose projects promote kindness. The Miami Lakes K-8 Center’s ‘BotOwls’ competed at the VEX IQ Showdown Tournament at the Howard D. McMillan School in Miami on Feb. 22.
The team of seven students placed in 17th out of 30 teams in their first year of competition.
