On Wednesday, May 14, the American High School chapter of the National Art Honor Society (NAHS) set a new school record by inducting 26 new members. The induction ceremony was administered by the NAHS and Art Club Officers, with inductees receiving membership certificates and carnations. Of the inductees, 21 seniors also received the traditional multi-color graduation tassels. A reception followed the ceremony.

National Art Honor Society was formed by the National Art Education Association in 1978 to inspire and recognize high school students who have shown an outstanding ability and interest in art. As with the other honor societies, membership requirements are stringent and membership is a lifetime honor. Art teacher Ron Laffin has been the American High Chapter Sponsor for the past nine years.

The new American High inductees are Nathally Valle, Elisa Ariza, Stephanie Rivera, Andres Sanchez, Marwan Elannan, Stephany Cardenas, Tatiana Mejia, Jaime Palencia, JaRon McKinney, Henry Worthy, Douglas Gavilan, Kathryn Ramos, Alexandra Ellis, Kailyn Vance, Claribel Garcia, Caroline Ramos, Kassandra Cuervo, Melanie Rodriguez, Gloria Chyr, Erica Chyr, Jennifer Cartalla, Vanessa Echazabal, Jazmin Shepherd, Claudia Morales, Ivanna Corzo and Chinatu Ibemere. Many inductees also received the graduation tassels including chapter officers Jose Galindo, Tabitha Wagon, and Amy Lacayo.
