Archbishop Thomas Wenski and the Archdiocese of Miami generously gifted $650,000 to Monsignor Edward Pace High School. With graduates at over 240 universities such as Princeton, Notre Dame, and Georgetown, Pace has educated Catholic students for over 50 years.
“Archbishop Wenski is appreciative of the good work in Catholic education that is accomplished at Pace and supports the work through this donation,” said Sister Elizabeth Worley, Chancellor for Administration and CEO of the Archdiocese of Miami.
The money will be used to renovate the roofs of the school and meet academic and scholarship needs.
“We are so grateful that Archbishop Wenski chose to help Pace,” said Pace junior Juliette Dubon.
To thank Archbishop Wenski and the Archdiocese for their gift, Pace administrators and students traveled to the Archdiocese of Miami Pastoral Center on December 12. The Pace choir regaled Archbishop Wenski and attracted staff members out of their offices with Christmas carols in the Archdiocese’s courtyard. Principal Ana Garcia then presented the Archbishop with a giant card of gratitude made by Pace students and signed by hundreds of members of the Pace family.

“It’s a very kind act to help the school during this time of year,” said Class of 2014 alumnus Natalie Leon. “The gift will help improve the school so it can continue to help improve the lives of others.”
The gift comes after a donation earlier in the year from the Hugoton Foundation, a regular annual donor to the school. Through the Hugoton Foundation’s generosity, the school has acquired two 3D printers and built the Hugoton STEM Lab, the hub for Pace’s new STEM Signature Academy that will be offered beginning next school year. The school will also begin offering a Law Studies Signature Academy for the 2015-2016 school year.
