Auditions for Reefer Madness will be held Wednesday, May 13, and Thursday, May 14, from 7:30 to 10 p.m. at The Main Street Playhouse, 6766 Main Street, Miami Lakes. To make an appointment email vanessaelise7@yahoo.com.
All those auditioning must prepare 16 bars of an up-tempo musical theatre song (an accompanist will be provided) prepare a one minute comedic dialogue, and note all conflicting dates. Special physical skills or talents should be provided.
Rehearsals for Reefer Madness will take place evenings beginning in June. Performances will take place on Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m.
The cast breakdown for Reefer Madness includes:
Jimmy Harper- (Should look school-aged) A wholesome, all-american type. Jimmy loves Mary.
Mary Jane - (Should look school aged) Wholesome, all-american type. Mary loves Jimmy.
Mae - (25-40) Reefer Den mistress who is abused by her boyfriend. Matronly and kind. She loves marijuana.
Jack - (25-40) Mae’s boyfriend. Predator-type, charming, lives to get people hooked. Attractive with good build.
The lecturer - (40’s or older) Bookish, severe, authority type, professor type.
Sally - Hooked on marijuana. Sexy, sassy, soul of Mae West.
Ralph - Former frat boy hooked on marijuana.
Jesus - Also played by Jack.
Ensemble - (Should look school aged) Young men and women who must dance.
