Bob Graham Education Center’s (BGEC) seventh grade Law Studies Academy students earned first place for the Oral Hearing and second place for their Portfolio at the 2015 Project Citizen State Finals.

The entire class has been working on the project entitled ”Help Wanted for ASD” hoping to increase job employment for adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

On May 22, the Oral Hearing team consisting of Madison Creevay, Julianna Grullon, Emily Fernandez, Joana Santana, Isabella Perez, Brandon Sanchez, Noah Medina, and Adrian Ruano presented before panels of judges and were awarded with first place for their presentation of the problem, alternative policies, their proposed policy and the action plan that has been initiated in hopes of increasing work opportunities for adults with ASD.

The class policy aims to create a social skills development program in all public high schools that would allow students with autism to develop social skills necessary for jobs success in their future. BGEC faculty and staff congratulated the students and their teacher, Ingy Cruz, for their win.
