The Chaminade-Madonna College Preparatory Academic Team (aka The Brainiacs) made history, yet again, as they outsmarted their competition and enjoyed a repeat victory on June 5 as the team was crowned the 2014 champions of BECON-TV’s “School Duel.” This is the second consecutive “School Duel” win for the team.

The competition was fierce with The Brainiacs defeating Westminister Academy in the first round and a nail-biting victory over Archimedean Academy. The team knocked out Miami Springs High School in the quarter-finals, and beat Spanish River High School in the semi-finals to advance to the championship round against Cypress Bay High School.

The Chaminade-Madonna team of seniors Carly Coughlin, Deeani Gonzalez, Mark LeBeau (Class of 2014 Valedictorian), Mikahir Narcisse-Alexander and William Urban brought home $5,000 in prize money and a two-foot tall trophy for the school. Gonzalez and LeBeau were members of the 2013 championship team.
