Miami-Dade District One residents recently enjoyed some great Latin food and entertainment at County Commissioner Barbara J. Jordan’s ninth annual Hispanic Heritage Festival at Country Village Park.
The diverse crowd feasted on Spanish dishes such as Lechon Asado and Arroz Imperial while enjoying a live band and children’s activities including rock climbing, a bounce house, face painting, pony rides and a petting zoo.
The event also featured several vendors providing social services, health and safety information, arts and crafts, financial literacy and pet adoptions made available through the Miami-Dade County Animal Services Department.
“The festival celebrates Latin influence in food, art, dance, and music,” said Jordan. “This annual event provides a great opportunity to recognize the diversity of our community and the many contributions Hispanic and Latino Americans have made to this country.”
Sponsors for the 2015 Hispanic Heritage Festival included the Munilla Family Foundation, Miami Dolphins Foundation, Related Urban, Odebrecht, Horsepower Electric, Lehman Autoworld, El Dorado Furniture, Amerigroup, the Hispanic Coalition, the Puerto Rican Chamber of Commerce, Borinquen Health Centers, the Lasarte Law Firm, and Jackson Health System.
