In celebration of National Library Week, members of the Miami Lakes Town Council read books to nearly 30 children on April 17 at the Miami Lakes Branch Library, part of the Miami-Dade Public Library System.

Vice Mayor Manny Cid, Councilmembers Tim Daubert, Nelson Rodriguez and Ceasar Mestre, along with Margaret Slaton, wife of Mayor Wayne Slaton, enjoyed reading books to the infant and toddler-aged children. Miami Lakes librarian Jessica E. Iglesias introduced the guests and presented them with a Certificate of Appreciation.

“Reading is the foundation of a healthy and prosperous future,” Cid said. “It was a privilege to be able to read to our future community leaders.”

National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association and held each April at libraries across the country.
