Miami Lakes Councilmember and mayoral candidate Manny Cid was appointed to the National League of Cities (NLC) 2016 Finance, Administration and Intergovernmental Relations Committee.

The committee released a statement last week after NLC president Melodee Colbert-Kean appointed Cid to the committee, which has the lead responsibility for developing NLC federal policy positions on issues involving national economic policy, general financial assistance programs, liability insurance, intergovernmental relations, census, municipal bonds and capital finance, citizen participation and civil rights.

As a member of the committee, Cid will play a key role in shaping NLC’s policy positions and advocate on behalf of America’s cities and towns before Congress, with the Administration and at home.

“It’s an honor and privilege to represent Miami Lakes on this national committee,” Cid said. “I will work hand-in-hand with municipal leaders from throughout our great nation to enhance and preserve the quality of life for Miami Lakers.”

Cid has been leading the effort to help Miami Lakes land it’s own independent zip code to help lower car insurance rates and homeowners’ insurance premiums, among other cost-saving issues for residents.
