Each season, The Miami Herald recognizes the best athletes in Miami-Dade and Broward counties. Congratulations to Dade Christian School junior, Ivan Arenas, and senior, Jared Johnson, who earned the honor of being part of the All-Dade teams. Both students were recognized for their outstanding performances on the field.

Varsity Boys Soccer coach Leo Estabridis feels the honor could not have been bestowed on a more worthy recipient, “Ivan Arenas is a true athlete and the team captain on our Varsity team. His determination and competitive nature, combined with his smarts and sports abilities, will propel him into a successful future. [He] is a hard worker which is why he stands apart from so many of his peers.

“I have known Ivan since he was an elementary student and right from the beginning, could tell that his determination and competitive spirit drove him on and off the field. He is a boy who, when given a challenge, is focused on putting forth his best effort and is not satisfied with just getting it done."

At 6'4 and 225 lbs, JAred Johnson is not easily missed. A powerhouse on the field, Johnson was an instant impact starter for Dade Christian the day he showed up on the campus his junior year.

Athletic Director and head football coach Mike Sonneborn had nothing but praise for the offensive/defensive lineman, "Jared is very hardworking young man and an asset for the school."

Dade Christian School prides itself on having an award-winning, full athletic program. Over the years, the Crusader Athletics teams have earned countless awards at the district, regional and state levels.
