Eagle Scout Projects completed by Troop 660

Community Wednesday, May 3, 2017

During mid-late 2016, Boy Scout Troop 660 was very busy with the Eagle projects of seven scouts. Eagle is the highest rank in Boy Scouting and its achievement has the direction, management, and execution of a service project as one of its requirements.

Henry Alvarez prepared a butterfly garden for Miami Lakes K-8 Center.

Kevin Beguiristain made three walkways for the Humane Society of Greater Miami. He cast over 100 paw shaped concrete pavers and then placed them to form the walkways.

Ariel Centurion cleaned the exterior of two large shipping containers used to store sports equipment at Hialeah Miami Lakes Senior High. He painted them in the school colors: one blue, one orange. Abraham Gutierrez prepared a butterfly garden for Schott Communities for the disabled in Cooper City.

Alex Viada made three very nice domino tables for the courtyard of Hialeah Educational Academy.

Esteban Guio and Derek Bodin worked on different aspects of a new playground at Miami Lakes United Methodist Church. The playground consists of small hills with tunnels that run through them. It encompasses a nautical theme that is conveyed through the wavelike shapes of the hills.

Henry, Kevin, Ariel, Abraham, Esteban, and Derek have all since passed their boards of review and are now Eagle Scouts. Alex is busy working on the rank’s other requirements and is the troop’s current senior patrol leader.

Troop 660 meets on Thursdays at 7 p.m. at Miami Lakes United Methodist Church.
