Father’s Day Fishing Tournament lures anglers

    Anglers dropped lines in Graham Dairy Lake on June 17 to celebrate a Father’s Day tradition in Miami Lakes.

     The event was sponsored by the town’s Cultural Affairs Committee and hosted by The Graham Companies.

     Shown from left are parent Miguel Zarran and Trinette Zarran, Cultural Affairs Committee member and event coordinator;  Rene Medina, 82, who won the Oldest Fisherman prize; his grandson Joel Hernandez who caught the Smallest Fish, a 9.5-inch Blue Gill; Matthew Garcia, who caught the Biggest Fish, an 18-inch, 1.55-pound Largemouth Bass shown with his father Raul Garcia; Tadeo Uriza, 7, the Youngest Fisherman; Catalina Galvis and her father Manuel Galvis; Mason Esquenazi, who won Best Overall Fisherman and First Fish Caught, a 10-inch Blue Gill at 8:06 a.m. and who also hooked the Most Fish, five, including Blue Gills and Largemouth Bass, with his father, Magdiel Esquenazi; Best Fishing Team winners Aaron Pereda, baby Connor Pereda, Dylan Pereda and their father Jose Pereda and uncle Jorge Lopez; Felicia Salazar, chair of the Cultural Affairs Committee; Miami Lakes Councilwoman Marilyn Ruano and Charles James, Cultural Affairs Committee member.     

      Sponsor One Stop Marine provided live bait to the anglers.
