Bernie Marcus, co-founder and former CEO of The Home Depot and founder of the national Job Creators Network, visited the Latin Builders Association Construction and Business Management Academy Charter High School (LBA Academy) on Thursday, May 1. Marcus had a chance to tour the facilities and interact with the students and LBA Board members, sharing his entrepreneurial expertise.

“We are honored to have welcomed Mr. Marcus to our school. He truly embodies the entrepreneurship and philanthropic spirit that we instill in our students,” said LBA Academy principal, Gyovania Marante. “We were excited to have the opportunity to show Mr. Marcus how the LBA Academy is educating the entrepreneurs of tomorrow.”

The LBA Academy, located at 13835 N.W. 97 Avenue in Hialeah Gardens, is a project of the Latin Builders Association, the largest Hispanic construction association in the United States. The charter high school first opened its doors in 2012.

“We are proud to have been able to show Mr. Marcus the work we are doing in the Academy, which represents the first time a business organization, such as the LBA, opens a business charter school in the United States,” said Bernie Navarro, chairman of the Board.

The LBA Academy will be holding an open house for all interested parents and students on Wednesday, May 28, at 6 p.m. For more information about the LBA Academy or the open house, contact the school at 305-827-3022. More information is available on the LBA Academy’s website: www.lbaacademy.org.
