Freebee service replaces Town's Moover buses starting April 1

The Town of Miami Lakes announced that effective April 1, the Moover bus service will be replaced by all Freebee service. The changes include:
• Switching from Fixed Route service to full on-demand ride-sharing service.
• Adding a new ADA accessible larger vehicle to the Freebee fleet that holds up to 10 passengers allowing the Town to have 3 Freebees circulating.
• The larger Freebee will be able to access the parts of the town that are currently not serviced due to speed limit restrictions. These areas include N.W. 67 Avenue north of Miami Lakeway to N.W. 167 Street, and the northeast business district near Costco and Miami Lakes Educational Center.
• New hours will be Monday to Friday, 6:15 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sundays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
• Rides can be requested via the RideFreebee app or by calling 305-901-9500.
The Moover buses are aging and experiencing more frequent breakdowns causing interruptions to the service. Miami Lakes has experienced a loss in ridership on the Moover since residents are beginning to use the Freebee as they are more reliable.
All of the Freebee cars are new and all electric which provides an environmental benefit and electric vehicles do not require the amount of maintenance that combustion engines need and operate more efficiently.
