Goleman's Jewels Dance Team celebrates award-winning year

Barbara Goleman Senior High School’s Jewels Dance Team competed in the first annual Dade County High Schools Dance-Off at St. Thomas University on Saturday, April 11. The event was  hosted by Creative Entertainment Group and the theme of the night was “Stop the Bullying and Domestic Violence.”

The team entered into the hip-hop round and made it to the final round to perform a contemporary piece titled “Gravity” which was choreographed by team member Ralphie Ruiz.

The team wrapped up the season at Los Violines Banquet Hall where they celebrated accomplishments and said farewell to the team’s graduating seniors. Team member Gaby Valdes was recognized for her four years on the team with a plaque. Valerie Donoso was the team’s Golden Jewel for 2014-2015. Ralphie Ruiz received special recognition for his excellence in choreography throughout the season.

All seniors received graduation chords to display at graduation and all dancers received awards for their work. The team ended the night by announcing the new officers, Alexia Bermudez, Amy Cristo, Valerie Donoso, and Yisel Perdomo.
