The Graham Companies made its second appearance in the 2nd Annual Hotel Charity Softball Tournament, hosted by The Mandarin Oriental, Miami. The tournament brought teams from hotels across Miami-Dade County on Saturday, March 15, at Tropical Park.
The Shula's Hotel and Golf Club team "Shula's Sluggers," along with all the participating teams raised funds to benefit His House Children's Home, a local foster care agency providing safety and healing for abused, neglected and abandoned children located at 20000 N.W. 47 Avenue, Miami Gardens.
The funds raised from entry fees to the event were matched by Mandarin Oriental and will go toward a 12 passenger van for His House. The van will make transportation accessible for underprivileged children. Currently, transportation is either inaccessible or costly, discouraging guardians and children from participating in quality educational programs.
Food trucks and furry celebrity guests Billy the Marlin, Sebastian the Ibis, and the UM Maniac all made appearances at this family-friendly event. Out of the 12 participating teams, up to 8 teams played every hour making the event one of the largest collective gatherings of hotels in Miami.
