Michael Lemelin is the new vice president and chief lending officer at JetStream Federal Credit Union in Miami Lakes.

“We are excited to have Michael join the JetStream Federal team,” said Jeanne Kucey, the financial cooperative’s president and chief executive officer.

Lemelin has the expertise to improve lending programs to “meet the needs of our diverse, predominately low-income membership,” she said in an Oct. 2 media release.

Lemelin will be responsible for all credit and lending functions and overall loan portfolio management.

His teams will grow and diversify assets and manage risk for the consumer, mortgage and business lending programs, the credit union said.

Lemelin said his goals include making the application experience “easy and convenient while we continue to expand our loan offerings, allowing our current and future members to reach their financial goals.”

Previously, Lemelin was chief lending officer at Velocity Community Credit Union and We Florida Financial Credit Union, both in South Florida, and has been an executive at other credit unions, banks and in the energy sector, the credit union said.

He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Salem State College in Massachusetts, renamed Salem State University in 2010.

JetStream said it has $280 million in assets and serves over 15,000 members. A community presence for 76 years, it has five branches in Miami-Dade County and in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Members may apply if they live, work or worship in those areas and in the counties of Carolina, Trujillo Alto and San Juan in Puerto Rico.
