JetStream Federal Credit Union, headquartered in Miami Lakes, has been awarded a $1.2 million Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) grant from the United States Treasury. CU Strategic Planning, a CDFI grant writing and marketing consulting firm, successfully assisted JetStream in gaining the award for the 2014 CDFI Program funding round.

“We are absolutely thrilled to be awarded this grant,” said JetStream president and CEO Jeanne Kucey. “We look forward to assisting more members with greater resources and strengthening our bottom line at the same time.”

Adding to the good news, Bauer Financial found that JetStream led all Florida credit unions with 465 percent growth in business loans for the 12 months ending March 31, 2014.

Mara L. Falero, CCE, vice president of Marketing and Communications at JetStream, and chair of the Town of Miami Lakes’ Economic Development Committee, was thrilled with the grant news.

“We are very excited in being awarded this grant and look forward to helping our local Miami Lakes small businesses,” she said.

Councilmember Ceasar Mestre, former chair of the Economic Development Committee, added the Town will help promote this new opportunity to small businesses. “Our Town will help by spreading the word about this excellent opportunity for any local small business in need of capital,” Mestre said.
