Kiwanis Club hosts annual charity square dance Oct. 15

Community Thursday, October 6, 2016

After having a very successful event last year, the Kiwanis Club of Greater Miami Lakes announced it will hold the Third Annual Square Dance to benefit ELIMINATE on Saturday, October 15, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Roberto Alonso Community Center in Royal Oaks Park located at 16500 N.W. 87 Avenue.

Kiwanis International and UNICEF joined forces on a five year project to raise $110 million to eliminate maternal and neo-natal tetanus in third world countries. The project was appropriately named the ELIMINATE project and for just a $1.80 donation, a child or mother is vaccinated against tetanus.

There will be a professional square dance caller who will be teaching novices how to square dance. Food and drinks will be available for purchase at the event as well as various items up for auction in a silent auction. The ticket price for the event is $15 per person. Ticket purchasers can make out their checks to Kiwanis International Foundation, a 501c3 organization, for tax purposes which are tax deductible as allowed by law.

The Kiwanis Club is soliciting donations from local businesses and individuals for the silent auction. Last year’s auction items ranged from gift cards to local restaurants and stores to high end golf clubs by Odyssey and much more.
