The Latin Builders Association Construction and Business Management Academy Charter School (LBA Academy) gave a warm welcome to former Florida Governor Jeb Bush upon his arrival to the school for National School Choice Week (NSCW).
NSCW, planned by a coalition of schools, organizations and individuals, gives participants a platform to speak on the need for effective education options. Dozens of governors and mayors issued proclamations and over 3,600 events were organized all across the nation from January 26 through February 1.
LBA Academy was praised by Bush, who said, "The days of putting these children into one-size-fits-all schools are coming to an end, although not nearly fast enough. School choice is the future of public education and at the LBA Academy we can see why."
The LBA Academy is the first of its kind in the U.S., a private-public partnership opened by a business alliance, while falling under the umbrella, and grading, of the Miami-Dade County Public School System.
This unique charter school begun by a business willing to offer high level academics, currently graded as an "A" school, offers options for students interested in pursuing construction-related jobs and college degrees alike.
"Choice allows an organization such as the Latin Builders Association to not only give back to the community, but to do so in a way that serves it's own needs because many of this school's graduates will work in and operate LBA businesses," said Bush.
