Through its annual Leaders and Achievers Scholarship Program, the Comcast Foundation is awarding more than $180,000 in scholarships across Florida. A total of 35 students will each receive $1,000 toward their education.

Of those recognized are local students Disa Rathore from Mater Academy Lakes High School, Nicholas Fernandez from Monsignor Edward Pace High School, and Ashley Gomez from Mater Academy Charter Middle and High School.

“This year's scholarship winners demonstrate exemplary commitment to leadership in both their classrooms and community,” said Jeanie Hernandez, Comcast Florida Region government affairs and corporate investment director. “We are proud to recognize their achievements, and are excited to support them as they continue their educational journeys.”

The Comcast Leaders and Achievers Scholarship Program is awarded to students who strive to achieve their potential, who are catalysts for positive change in their communities, who are involved in their schools, and who serve as models for their fellow students. The program demonstrates the importance of civic engagement.
