Miami Lakes Branch Library announced the following programs are available for the public during August:
For Children and Families:
On Your Mark, Get Set...Read: Movie Screenings – Beat the heat with a family friendly film. Featured title is “Zootopia.” Event is sponsored by the Miami Lakes Education Advisory Board at 3 p.m. on Saturday, August 6.
On Your Mark, Get Set...Read: Library Olympics – Join for a variety of active challenges and book-based activities from obstacle courses to storytime. For ages 5 and up at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 4.
Summer Reading Finale: Zoo Miami – This interactive program focuses on fascinating creatures found around the world. Discover how featured animals have amazing specialization for survival in their natural habitats. Space is limited. Call branch for details. Read the Book, Watch the Movie – Enjoy book-based films that are sure to delight. Sponsored by the Town of Miami Lakes Education Advisory Board at 11 a.m. on Saturdays, August 13 and 20.
For Teens:
Teen Club: Get in the Game, Movie Screenings - “Shaolin Soccer,” presented by Town of Miami Lakes Education Advisory Board at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 2.
Teen Club – Teens meet to play video games, watch anime, draw or discuss books, at 6 p.m. on Tuesdays, August 9 and 23.
For Adults:
Go Club of Miami Lakes – Now everyone can embark on a journey and uncover the ancient game of strategy, attack and defense, the Game of Go. Meets from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturdays, August 6, 13, 20 and 27.
Book Discussion Group – Meets at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, August 16. Call the Branch for the title.
USCIS Information Table – United States Citizenship and Immigration Service staff will provide information, materials and answer general questions regarding the citizenship process, at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, August 22.
Commissioner Esteban Bovo’s Mobile Office Community Outreach – An opportunity for the community to speak with the Commissioner and/or his representative from 1 to 3 p.m. on Monday, August 8.
Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart Community Outreach – A member of his staff will be on hand to discuss federal issues or any problem a constituent may have with a federal agency at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 24.
Miami Lakes Branch Library is located at 6699 Windmill Gate Road and is open Monday and Tuesday from noon to 8 p.m., and Wednesday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The branch is closed on Sundays. For more information, call 305-822-6520.
