Miami Lakes Congregational Church will host its 11th annual Pilgrim Village worship service on Sunday, November 24.
The 10:30 a.m. worship service is conducted in the style of the Pilgrims. The entire service is a re-enactment of one of the Pilgrim's worship services from 1676. The women sit on the left, the men on the right. Participants proceed into the sanctuary led by the drummer boy.
Many congregants will be dressed as Pilgrims or Native Americans. Guests will be given white Pilgrim collars to wear.Prior to the service, everyone gathers on the church patio at 10 a.m. for popcorn and cider.
The early Pilgrims were the ones who, coming over from England and Holland, settled in the New England states and celebrated the first Thanksgiving with the Native Americans. After the service, everyone is invited to enjoy a Thanksgiving meal, at no charge, in the Fellowship Hall.
