Miami Lakes Kids Choir (MLKC), founded in 2014 by Dr. Raquel Rubi with the support of Miami Lakes Congregational Church, is a versatile class of 5 to 11 year-old kids who perform choral music, solos, duets, and vocal-instrumental music.
The purpose of the project is to provide community venues with different music styles such as Broadway musicals,, Disney songs, classical music, and more, while exposing children to professional performance experiences.
Auditions were held for new members on September 6 and 13. During the fall, the MLKC will prepare a Christmas Concert featuring professional singers and a chamber orchestra in December at Miami Lakes Congregational Church, the site for its rehearsals and premieres.
Class sessions are from 4:45 to 6 p.m. on Tuesdays beginning September 13 through December 14.
