'Mad Dog' golf challenge set for March 29 at Shula's

The annual Mad Dog Mandich Golf Classic is less than one month away and golfers are already lined up to tee off in an event to honor former Miami Dolphins player Jim Mandich and his wife, Bonnie.
The Dolphins Cancer Challenge event is scheduled for Friday, March 29 at Shula’s Golf Club, 7301 Miami Lakes Drive.
Registration opens at 10:30 a.m., followed by the putting contest at 11:00 a.m.
The golfing tournament starts at noon with a Shotgun Start followed by a buffet and awards banquet and an auction with prizes and awards.
The event also includes lunch, other contests, refreshments and entertainment.
All proceeds from the event will go to the University of Miami’s Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center.
The event honors the memories of Jim Mandich and his wife, Bonnie, who loved bringing families, friends and the community together for a great weekend of golf, fellowship, all while supporting the Dolphins Cancer Challenge.
Mandich, who was the Dolphins radio play-by-play announcer, died of cancer in 2011, and Bonnie Mandich died in 2016 at the age of 61.
